Golf in Latvia

Golf in Latvia – From the hustle and bustle of the city to genuine rural hospitality. Everyone will find something suitable in Latvia. Discover the old castles, hike in the breathtaking valleys or relax on the long beaches.

Gauja, the largest and oldest national park in Latvia, was established in 1973. Covering an area of more than 90,000 hectares, it protects the most magnificent section of the glacial valley. Gauja is characterized by great biodiversity, various relief forms, springs, picturesque landscapes and unique natural and cultural monuments. The park’s greatest pride and joy are its magnificent sandstone outcrops, rocks, crags and caves. The reddish, golden and gray sandstones were formed 350-370 million years ago. There are more than 500 monuments of culture and history on the territory of the Gauja National Park: castle mounds, walled castles, manors, water and windmills, as well as other monuments of archaeology, architecture and art.

The only official Latvian health resort is Jūrmala. It is located just 15 km from Riga International Airport and 25 km from the Latvian capital Riga. The spa town is known for its mild climate, the sea, the healthy air, the healing mud and the mineral water. The town has almost 26 km of white sandy beach and offers a wide range of recreational opportunities in its pine forests.

In the Middle Ages, Riga had a large port and was part of the Hanseatic Union, which united the merchants of the Baltic region and northern Germany. The Great and Small Guilds and the Schwarzhäupterhaus with the Roland statue in front of the door are reminders of this period of economic boom.

With its narrow, cobbled streets and diverse architecture, Altriga is a popular tourist and entertainment destination in the historic center of Riga. There are not only residential buildings from the late Middle Ages to marvel at, but also unique religious buildings.

Latgale is the only Latvian region that has its own language, which is still used in everyday life and even has its own alphabet. Latgale is known as “the land of blue lakes”. The area between Aglona, Krāslava and Ezernieki is home to the largest number of lakes in Latvia, several of which are connected to each other. For this reason, the route from Lake Drīdzis to Lake Jasinka, which crosses five lakes, is very popular among boaters. The Daugava Loops Nature Park stretches from Krāslava to Daugavpils in the primeval Daugava valley. Picturesque steep banks and old castle mountains, which can be explored via tourist and nature trails, are a delight to the eye. Thanks to the local cuisine and the farms that offer traditional dishes, Latgale is particularly suitable as a destination for gourmets. Farms offer their cheese, snails, honey and herbal teas for tasting. Guests can also take part in baking rye bread and taste homemade berry wine.
